Junior Administrative Assistant
Anniston Banda joined the IEC in September of 2016. Some of her responsibilities include assisting the senior administrator with event planning and prepping, keeping our 200+ members’ contact information up to date, and running all of the IEC’s social media sites.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Anniston currently attends the University of Houston as a sophomore and is majoring in political science. She finds joy in rescuing stray animals, feeding the homeless, and raising awareness on how to decrease your carbon footprint in an effort to protect the planet. Some of her hobbies and interests include advocating on the behalf of all animals in captivity, picking up litter in and around her community, spending quality time with her family and traveling to as many places as she possibly can. A few of Anniston’s accomplishments involve adopting her dog Lilith, a pit bull/boxer mix, from the SPCA two years ago, as well as her recent rescue of a stray mutt she found while in the drive-thru at a Whataburger downtown, whom she often refers to as “Brown Dog”.
Anniston is one of three daughters born to Joe and Shelly Banda. She has an older sister, Alexa (22) who is studying to be a teacher at Texas State, and a younger sister, Adrian (18), who is a senior in high school. Although she doesn’t have any kids of her own, Anniston considers her three dogs; Luna, Lilith and Brown Dog to be her children.
